Do you scan Black & White negatives?

Yes we do and the pricing is the same as color negatives. However, we recommend that you order a set of TIFF images for editing as we cannot use Digital ICE scratch & blemish removal technology when scanning black and white negatives.

"Digital ICE is used to detect scratches and dust during transparent film scan and not applicable for opaque document scanning. Where Chromogenic black and white films are supported by Digital ICE, other black and white films containing silver halides are not. This is because the long wave infrared light passes through the slide but not through dust particles. The silver particles reflect the infrared light in a similar manner to dust particles, thus respond equally in visible light and infrared light." Source:

What if my negatives are loose?

No Problem! We will scan your negatives and either return them to the sleeves or envelopes or neatly place them in our archival storage products if you choose to purchase alternative storage. What do you consider a strip?

What do you consider a Standard Negative?

Standard Negatives are 35mm and 35mm Half Frame negative strips that have 2 or more frames and developed APS film. The negatives must be in reasonably good condition. Negatives that are excessively curled may require an additional handling fee to scan. "Good condition" is defined as not warped, excessively moldy or curled, sticky, ripped, or torn. Color issues (such as fading) and general age are not a factor in determining condition. We will try to fix color issues as part of our basic service.

We will scan  35mm single frame negatives, however, there is an additional $1.00 handling fee per image for this service.

What if they have a copyright symbol?

If your negatives have a copyright symbol we can scan them if permission is granted by the copyright owner, or if you agree to sign a waiver that you will only be using the disc we make as a backup of the material you legally own and not for resale or other commercial purposes. Download our Copyright Waiver PDF, print, sign, and include in your shipment when placing your order.
