Do I have to pay for scanning
separately to order a slideshow movie?
top
|
|
Yes. The scanning fees are separate from the Slideshow Movie fees. We have to scan
your film and photos in order to make them into digital files. Then we can make
a Slideshow Movie out of those files in addition to giving you archival quality
image files for use on your computer and to make reprints. At this time our Slideshow
Movie Service is only available an add-on service for our scanning customers. At
this time we are only able to offer Slideshow Movies services to scanning customers.
|
Will you make a Slideshow
Movie from images I scanned myself?
top
|
|
At this time we can only create slideshow movies from images we scan. The main reason
is quality assurance. When we have done the scanning, we know that the image files
will be a high enough resolution, and that they will be slideshow ready (cropped,
rotated, and color-corrected). We also know that the naming convention will successfully
follow the desired order of the slideshow (naming large groups of files to fall
in order can be trickier than you would think). This allows us to keep our pricing
for our Slideshow Movie Services very affordable. See the
Slides to DVD page.
|
How many images fit on
one movie disc?
top
|
|
Just over 1000 images will fit on one DVD movie disc.
|
How long is each image
on the screen?
top
|
|
The default setting for the images is 6 seconds. There is a 1 second fade in, the
image stays on the screen for 4 seconds and then a 1 second fade out. This is what
we found to be the best viewing time. The length can be adjusted a little, but 6
sec/image is what you should use to calculate how much music you will need, if you
are including your own music.
|
How long will my show
be?
top
|
|
At 6 seconds an image there will 10 pictures a minute. So if you have 200 pictures
your show will be 20 minutes long. If you have 980 your show will be 98 minutes
long.
|
What kind of music files
can I send?
top
|
|
For copyright reasons we can only used music purchased by you. The music must be
in .mp3, .wma or .cda format. Before and after burning to a CD, check the file extension
to make sure it reads one of these (.mp3 or .wma.) If it says .m4p or .m4a, these
are protected files that cannot be copied or ripped off the CD. I-Tunes by default
is set to download protected files. You will need to convert them in I-Tunes or
download a program that can convert them to an .mp3.
Here is a link to explain and help convert them.

What does your royalty

top
|
|

upbeat. We also have a very small collection of patriotic (8), classical(9), swing(3),
country-western(4), Latin or Island(7), spiritual south (2) and Christmas music(15).

What is the difference
between a Title Slide and a Chapter Point?
top
|
|
A Title Slide is a frame inserted in your Movie to usually introduce the next section.
You cannot navigate to these or skip around to different title slides unless...
You have a chapter point. A Chapter point is a chapter in your movie that you can
skip to. A Chapter point is generally made up of a Title Slide and put into a menu
to navigate to different parts of the show. You would have the option of watching
the entire show at once or one chapter at a time.
|
Will the images fill my
TV screen?
top
|
|
The images will fill your screen proportionally in the longest direction.
|
What resolution do
get my film or photos scanned for a digital projector/high definition TV/wide screen
TV?
top
|
|
The photos/slides we scan are large enough resolution for printing but are more
than what is required for viewing on a TV or projector. A higher resolution will
not affect the viewing size since TVs only read 72-96 dpi.
|
What do the transitions
look like?
top
|
|
Transitions are different variations as each image fades into the next. You can
watch our Slideshow Movie sample videos for an
examples of transitions!

What is the best way to communicate
what I want my movie to be like to the Videographer?
top
|
|
When ordering a Slideshow Movie we recommend that you download, print, and fill
out our
Slideshow Movie Worksheet PDF to help your visualize and price your Slideshow
Movie. After you have filled them out, print and include them in your scanning order
to help the videographer make your Slideshow Movie as close to your wishes as possible.
You will still need to fill out our traditional online order form to take care of
the scanning portion of your order and to record you in our database. If you have
any questions for the videographer, give us a call, ask to speak to a videographer
about your slideshow movie and they will be happy to make recommendations or answer
questions. You can also email any questions to
support@digmypics.com
|
Do I have to send in my film
or photos for my movie in the order I want my video to be in?
top
|
|
Yes. You will need to organize your project in the order you would like them to
appear in your movie. You will also need to clearly separate and mark the names
of the titles of each grouping. You can also download, print, and fill out our
Slideshow Deluxe Order Worksheet PDF to help keep your groupings in order.
If you have any questions for the videographer, give us a call, ask to speak to
a videographer about your slideshow movie and they will be happy to make recommendations
or answer questions. You can also email any questions to

|
Can I intermingle my
slides, negatives and prints?
top
|
|
No. Slides and prints are scanned on different machines so it is impossible for
us to insert a print in between every few slides or vice versa without a lot of
effort and potential for errors. The folders we create, based off your grouping,
fall into Numeric-Alphabetical order. Keeping in mind we charge $1.99 per small folder,
you can organize your project so the images will fall in order closer to your preference.
For instance, If you have your project grouped by the years 1960, 1970, 1980, and
1990. You have slides and prints for each year. If you want the slides to appear
first you can organize group your project as such: Put the prints in different plastic
bags for each year. You can bundle that folder of slides together and put in own
plastic bag for each folder, put dividers in the carousel in front of each new group
or in your slide storage box or box put a paper/cardboard divider in front of each
new folder.
You would label as such to make it fall correctly:
- 01_1960_Slides
- 02_1960_Prints
- 03_1970_Slides
- 04_1970_Prints
- 05_1980_Slides
- 06_1980_Prints
- 07_1990_Slides
- 08_1990_Prints
or
- 1960a_Slides
- 1960b_Prints
- 1970a_Slides
- 1970b_Prints
- 1980a_Slides
- 1980b_Prints
- 1990a_Slides
- 1990b_Prints
Please Note: The images need to arrive in the order you would like them to
appear. We will not organize the project for you when your package arrives or after
it is scanned. For specific help on organizing your project to make sure it falls
in the order you expect, give us a call, ask to speak to a videographer about your
slideshow movie and they will be happy to make recommendations or answer questions.
You can also email any questions to support@digmypics.com.
|
How do I indicate where
to put my Title(s)?
top
|
|
Put your photos in groups for each new Title Slide and write the name somewhere
on the group. Definitely indicate the order in which the titles will appear. You
will also need to write or type out the titles and include any instructions for
music. If you have any questions for the videographer, give us a call, ask to speak
to a videographer about your slideshow movie and they will be happy to make recommendations
or answer questions. You can also email any questions to
support@digmypics.com.
|
How do I organize for chapter
points?
top
|
|
Similar to the title slides you will need to organize the photos into groups or
write out the folder ranges to cover the chapter point. For example your project
could have a folder for each year. The Chapter Point then would be a range of the
years: 1961-1970, 1971-1980. Or another Example could be a Point per Child or Vacation.
The points need to be enough images for at least 1 song, and if you are sending
your own music make sure songs fit number of images or will be charged the $5 to
edit the song/s to fit.
|
How much music will
I need? How do I estimate the number of songs need?
top
|
|
At 6 seconds an image this is easy to figure out. There are 10 pictures a minute
so if you have 150 pictures you will need 15 minutes of music.
|
Can I add some images
from my digital camera to the movie?
top
|
|
You can include a CD with images from your digital camera for an additional $15
upload fee. These pictures must be
TIFFs or JPEGs, of proper size, named so that they will fall in the correct
order when pulled off the disc, and already cropped and rotated. They cannot be
intermingled throughout the slideshow, but can be placed as a group at the beginning
or the end. You can call us or email any questions to
support@digmypics.com.

Will the DVDs you create
be compatible with my DVD player?

some restrictions on playing burned DVDs, but if your DVD player is less than 4
or 5 years old it should be fine.
|
Can I order extra copies?
How much do they cost?
top
|
|
We keep all the files we need to make additional copies for 30 days after your order
is completed. Simply call us and we'll send more copies your way or even deliver
them to a friend or relative as a gift. The cost is $8 per disc. For example: If
a set consists of 3 discs to fulfill the total footage then it will be $18 per set.
|
Can I make copies of
the DVD myself?
top
|
|
Yes. These DVDs are yours to do with what you like. You must have the proper burning
software and DVD Burner Drive installed on your computer.
|
Could I make my own Slideshow
Movie once I get my scanned images back on disc?
top
|
|
Sure. If you would rather make your own slideshow movie, you would just need to
have some patience, a DVD burner and some Slideshow Movie making software. Windows
Movie Maker and iDVD for the Mac are 2 examples of software that can create slideshow
movies from digital files.
|
How long will it take?
top
|
|
We keep our turn status up to date and posted on the left hand side of every page
on the website. The turn status is for scanning and does not include the time it
takes to make the movie. Slideshow Movies generally an additional take 2-5 business
days depending on the size.
|
Will you return my originals?
top
|
|
Yes most definitely! It is important to always have a backup copy of your DVDs and
keeping the original film is one of the best ways.
|
How should I label and package
my film for shipment?
top
|
|
To prepare your film and/or photos for scanning and ultimately your Slideshow movie:
Group your film and/photos by film type, then break into smaller groupings (30 or
more per group, please). Most people will arrange their groups chronologically or
by subject(people, places, etc.) Place these groups in individual containers with
a paper that includes the title, and song that goes along with that grouping (if
applicable). Write a number on the front of that group that indicates the order
in which it should appear in the Slideshow. For Example: Lets say you are putting
together a slideshow movie for your sister's wedding reception. You have 3 groupings,
the bride as a child, the groom as a child, and pictures of them together and you
want the groups to appear in that order. You name the first group (the bride as
a child) "Sally", the second (the groom as a child) "Steve",
and the third (both together) "Sally and Steve". The computer will read
your groupings numerically first, then alphabetically. So you will need to write
a 1 on group "Sally", a 2 on "Steve" and a 3 on "Sally
and Steve". That way the scanning technicians know how to name your project
so it stays in order. We also recommend that you download, print, and fill
out our
Slideshow Deluxe Order Worksheet PDF to help your visualize and price your
Slideshow Movie. After you have filled them out, print and include them in your
scanning order to help the videographer make your Slideshow Movie as close to your
wishes as possible.
